MISC:Mongolia is one of the world's oldest countries. It has a harsh,
rugged environment with a desert climate; cold, dry, continental; with
sharp seasonal variations. It is landlocked and has vast semidesert and
desert plains; mountains in the west and southwest; with the Gobi
Desert in the southeast. Only 1% of land is arable yet the labor force
is primarily agricultural. Uses metric system. Member of UN since 1961.
